I have never used metering wires
They may have been necessary when Vincents were used for every day transport, high mileages, oil was poor quality and budgets were tight, none of these conditions apply to most owners nowadays:cool:

Never fitted it in any engine.....always upgrade to the ET 100/1 mod fixes more than one issue....and fairly easy to carry out.
Greg has suggested the best option here.
A metering wire can be a quick, cheap fix for excess smoke/oil consumption from worn guides but bear in mind that reducing oil flow to the guides also reduces oil to the cams.
