This is a new spring that I just had delivered, you will notice that the top spring claw is canted over quite a bit, is there anything I can do about this?
As far as I can tell it is correctly fitted.

Are the claws new as well? Alternatively, if you change the claws round to different ends is it the same. This is to find out whether it is the claws or the spring. If it is the spring send it back and let us all know where it came from so we can be forewarned if we use the same source.

Kevin,

It looks to me like the end of the spring was not collapsed enough to do a proper "square and ground" end. Is it a new spring or just new to you? I was under the impression that scragging was a bending test for spring steel to induce a "set." It looks like this spring needs some work.

Hi guys, thanks for all the input so far, the spring is brand new and the claws are not.
From your responses do I assume that it is not acceptable the way it is and I should therefore grind the spring to make it fit square in the claw??

Thanks
