Just in case anybody is interested in my final result to the balance beam issue:
Swapping the long cable to the right solved the problem,because the long cable moves the balance beam down when the brake is applied,so away from the fork link. The Brampton beam is actually designed for the left(short) cable to be pulled upwards.
The designed forward sweep of the beam onthe left makes shure the adjuster clears the fork link. So it looks to me like on the Bramptons the beam is clearly designed for taking the long cable on the right side. Problem solved.
