Misc: Charging Systems Comet Battery Exide 3-EK5AL

In reviewing historical magazine test articles on the Comet i see the use of Exide 3-EK5AL battery and want to know which terminal of the Exide battery is shown in this Comet photo, positive or negative.

With that area of metal tab exposed it must be earth so back in the age of no fiddles whatever was earth back then and my guess on that (without looking at ancient scrolls) is Positive

Standard Vincent wiring was negative earth according to the wiring diagram in 'Know thy Beast'.

There is an N on the terminal in that corner, so negative.
But you could always turn the battery round so then it's positive in that position.
