Now, there'll be a run on knackered K/S covers!

It would decrease the number of times the pipes come off when adjusting the shift mechanism.

I dunno, would there be a risk of shaft G40 being pushed downward?It would work better on the very earliest "B" covers with an extra stud near the inspection cap. Maybe re-align the horizontal cut to take in another stud for more support Also noticed that G66AS arm should have a stud and nut. The factory redesigned this for a good reason.

I have been doing something similar for about fifty years. It dates back to me sitting in a gutter among London's heavy traffic trying to sort out yet another broken kick starter spring. Remember the "good old days" when kick starter springs used to fail at frequent intervals? I do it slightly differently in that I make one cut straight across, roughly in the position of the horizontal part of the cut in the first photograph. I also file a small vee cut out on the lower inside face of the kick starter cover to let out any water or oil which might get in there.
