Trouble is the more you value it the more you will have to pay ?. Cheers Bill.
I would say use the same value as last year because apart from landmark bikes the prices are pretty stable and not rising As usual as I found out in my exercise and investigation of resale values from 1956 to 2016 for my book, sellers expectations often lag the market a little on the way up but always do during a lull or drop.I insured with Carole Nash last year. I gave them my estimated value which was the same as the purchase price 48k. They asked me to send pictures of the machine. They wrote back agreeing the value. I'm not sure what I do this year as to value, and on CPI plus 10%?
Yes the AA and I guess the RAC are commercial companies now and work in complete ignorance of old bikes and cars. If you get stranded with a side car always refer to it as a ' three wheeler' because on top of the "we can fix most breakdowns in 30 minutes" man (whats a magneto? inner tube? is that still legal?) you will then get the recovery vehicle with a rack for a solo (whats a motorcycle and sidecar?) before finally getting one for a three wheeler.
Try getting a quote from HagertyI have just renewed my FJ insurance and the recovery that used to be AXA has changed to RAC.
The AXA paperwork said recovery was possible after breakdown, accident or rider being unwell.
The RAC seems to only cover roadside in the case of breakdown. Like the AA described by Vibrac, if the roadside assistance system can't help, then recovery should happen......but is there a 10mile limit? The FL/RAC booklet that FJ sent had a definition of VEHICLE that did not include a motorcycle. Accident and illness assistance are not covered!
I phoned to say how bad this all was, and eventually they admitted to having a problem with their FJ/RAC documentation.....but did not want to agree that the RAC assistance would be inferior......I've got a few days left to find an alternative and get a refund.
Like with the silly RH garaging clause, can the VOC help with this daftness?
