My experience is a little bit of black smoke indicates rich mixture.
A little bit of burning oil is a white/blue occasional smoke.
A lot of oil burning is plumes of white smoke.
My twin last year had sumped and I didn't realise until I kicked it. The bike felt like turning over treacle, but it fired and immediately filled the whole street with plumes of white smoke. It was that much I couldn't see the neighbors house across the street. It looked white in colour to me.
Stopped the bike, drained the sump and all was well again. That's on a bike that doesn't usually burn oil.
