I wanted to Stellite my clutch arm and attendant push rod and master machinist told me he
believed there ought to be a 4-5 point difference in hardness between the two. Thus you
don't want each rubbing part to have the same Rockwell hardness.

dont think its the same hardness Carl, but the same type of material, rubbing against each other. being no good, (exeptions there)
Only when using coatings like DLC one can (has)

Hi Carl, as I posted on the New forum, Gary Robinson used Stellite 1 on both cams and followers for over 20 years including my special high lift race cams. You can't get more arduous conditions than this. Has anyone worn out a set of his cams recently?
Cheers
