Misc: Everything Else Series 'A' Square Bolts

A very nice Series A Comet just sold at the Bonhams auction:

In the description we find the following statement:

"All fittings are correct whereas on many bikes the square-headed bolts have been lost and replaced with more modern types."

A look through the photos does not reveal any square-headed bolts. Were they used? Where? Why?

Don't the valve spring retainers have little square head bolts?

Yes, the clip attachment screws for the brake and clutch levers......only from memory.......I still have some from the batch i had made.......except these have the normal 1 BA threads, whereas seam to remember some folk recon the orignal screws were a 1/4 BSF threads. If that was the case, I have never seen any clip screws with threads that big.......Cheers.
