The E91 bearing on the G/box input shaft comes sealed or open
1 would you fit it fully open ?
2 run it fully sealed
3 run open on one side / leave one seal intact
any thoughts would be appreciated
Thank you
Greg

The lubrication in sealed bearings is stated to be good for the normal life of the bearing. As for me, i'd use a sealed bearing. If it goes, you'll know it by the sound before there's any damage just like with an unsealed bearing. The choice is yours.

Struggling to find E91 in the gearbox. Either way, modern sealed bearings seem to be fit and forget.

E91 is the bearing in the G2 cover plate for the gearbox mainshaft, same as the big ball bearing on the outer side of the drive side flywheel mainshaft. I have some, unsealed and with the C3 fit.

If you buy the sealed bearing, the seals can be removed. Personally, I'd look at installing with the seal in place on the clutch side so oil can still lube in on the gear side. The sealed bearings are supposed to be plug and play, but may just last longer if a constant supply of lube is in play. But I'm sure there are more opinions... I'll await them as well.
