Regarding tire age, I bought a 1930 Rudge in 1975 and the Dunlop Universals were marked "Saorstát Eireann" (Irish Free State). This was my only transport at the time and I had a twenty mile round trip for work on roads that were often very wet, It took several months before it dawned on me that Dunlop would have ceased marking their pressings this way when the Irish constitution was adopted in 1937, and from then onward their Irish pressings would read "Made in Ireland". The tires on my Rudge were at least 38 years old. They were still on the bike when I sold it a couple of years later, and since I know this bike has had little or no use since then, they could well be on there now!
