Hi folks, having just rebuilt my series C twin girdraulics I am now on the trail of a new shock. I have spent the last 20k miles riding on what I now know is a much too stiff old Koni. Having done some research quite a while ago I love the idea of the thorntons but not the price.
I have seen the very interesting post of the Coventry section about the Avo shocks and they look like the way to go. Have spoken to them and seem very nice helpful folk.
I was just wondering if any riders have a bit more recent/long term reviews of how the shocks are doing as some of the articles are now a couple of years old.
If there is a whole long recent thread that I have missed in this (other than the cov section), my apologies and point me to it.
TTFN.

Dear Nick,
Rob (hadronuk) has done a lot of research and worked closely with AVO to get them to produce dampers to fit both front and rear on Girdraulic forked Vincent machines. Because I tend to put a lot of miles on my Vincent I did quite a lot of testing of the AVO units while Rob was developing them.
I have many thousands of miles using the AVO on the rear of my Rapide. I have also got an AVO fitted to the Girdraulics although with not as many miles covered as the rear as this was developed later. I have found them very good and they seem to be very durable. I would rate them far, far, better than the original dampers. (I'm not denigrating the original units as they were made with the technology of the time.)
The AVO also has the facility to easily alter the amount of damping.
I have never ridden a Vincent with a Thornton damper fitted so I can't comment on how good they are. Other people have given them good reviews although I would personally find it hard to justify the cost of the Thornton at more than twice the price of the AVO.

Below are some links to a few threads that may be useful, there may be more if you do your own search.
