Misc: Everything Else 1951 Comet Seat Conversion

I don't in anyway want to appear hyper critical, but the rear wheel looks kinda lost somehow, detached from the rest of the bike, first impressions perhaps, I guess I could get used to it, but if it works, what the heck.
Critical is what I like.
It's not so bad when my considerable weight is applied to it, but still I have to agree it looks odd, but there again I think the standard seat looks rubbish and is too far forward.
I am currently thinking of slightly reducing the travel and fitting a stronger spring.

Not sure if these are my father's design, or Bill Easter's, they both had them. The length is approx 20", but are designed to have some adjustment. Both my father and Bill used them on Vincent twins, not sure if the Comet geometry is significantly different, but the basic design should apply. The end on the left fits the standard seat bracket, while the end on the right attaches to the pillion footrest plates.
