is it possible to convert a smiths post war speedo to pre war type with the tube drive or convert the tube drive to the later speedo

Stan, my A has a later speedo with a tube drive, the tube has a speedo cable outer inside it. Can't remember the details but I must have mod'ed the top of the tube to fit.
