Wasn’t there also a subtle internal dimensional difference between the H.R.D. and Vincent rocker caps, with the H.R.D. caps fitted the valve had to in the closed position to avoid fouling the rocker arm, with the Vincent cap it would unscrew in any position, or am I fuddled.

My Comet has Vincent caps and MK2 cam and the rocker will definitely foul the cap if it’s not in the closed position. On the intake side, I even had to use a thinner gasket to get the cap to sit lower. Without the thinner gasket the rocker would come in contact with the cap when rotating the engine. Counter intuitive, but yes the cap has to sit lower.

Ps Also machined away some material away from inside the cap.

And I have had to add thin washers under the gasket to clear the valve spring caps with some ambitious cams on the Egli Racer
