Again maybe but the internal finish and machining is identical to two others I've looked at. So I'm pretty certain it's genuine.
Whether Vincent or as suggested Harpers that we may never know.

The triangular face has definitely been got at at sometime in its life, you can see the witness marks on the face, also the edges of the triangular protrusion look sharper than the as cast and polished edges on the more common type of cover (note I refrained from using the word "standard") doesn't solve anything, just an observation, but I would think it has been done whilst in previous ownership.

Maybe, but Cyborg has one like it also, I wonder if was something that happend maybe late in production. If so maybe there are a few D owners out here who can have a look.

Well, it is on a D but as I said no sign of paint so may not be as factory fitted.

And my D's cover is like that of Macvette's, except for the paint which had been stripped by the previous owner sometime before 1976.
