[QUOTE="everiman, post: 93713, member: 3852"] How to do facebook without getting done by facebook Create yourself a new email account using Gmail, Yahoo, whatever, what you want is an email address that you will only use for facebook. When creating the email profile enter only the minimum required information. Never use your personal 'real' email address for any social on line activity unless you absolutely trust the site, facebook is NOT trustworthy. read the real news, not faked. The only time to use a business email address on facebook is if you actually intend to do business on facebook. It should go without saying that you should never use a business email address assigned to you by your employer for any non employment related internet activity unless you want to get fired. If you use a PC you can create a new user on your PC. If you have done this right you will need to login as the new user you created. Any up to date Windows, Apple or Linux PC enables the creation of multiple users, ordinary users with default permissions are not able to access files created by other users unless the user that created the file allows it by sharing. Default is not shared, keep it that way. The new user is only to be used for social media, so don't create or share any files with the new user that you don't want all over the internet. Open a browser while logged in as the new user and create a new face book account, if you already have a FB account, consider deleting it, definitely stop using it. Be very careful about accessing facebook on a phone or tablet that has your real data and contacts on it, make sure you turn off facebook permission to access your phone and email contacts on Android, apparently Apple has already taken care of this on iphones and ipads, but you need to check. As far as I can tell my Android phone information is available to every user, so my phone is not safe for Facebook or similar social sites, Iphone apparently does the same thing, check, if your spouse's account is added to your phone are you or they able to read your email and contacts? If the answer is yes, do not use your phone for facebook unless you are absolutely certain there is nothing on your phone that can hurt you in any way.. Android tablets are cheap enough that you can probably afford to have a tablet just for social media with only the personal information you need for FB ie, one email address not used for anything else, and no contact information for anyone else, including email contacts. Uncheck all facebook notifications unless you really want to know that Dick Gazinya liked this, and Mary QuiteContrary liked that. Make sure your facebook profile does not have any phone numbers or other email addresses than the one you need to create an FB account. Be creative with the FB profile so long as it won't come back to bite you later, leave stuff blank that is optional, or make something up that amuses. Be careful about who you friend on facebook, you may learn things about friends and family you did not want to know. Join groups you are interested in like the Vincent group.
