Can anyone please tell me the ideal end float (or what is acceptable) on the Breather Valve Pinion ET141 of my C twin? By this I mean the gap between the pinion and the steady plate. I currently have a gap of 33 thou which seems a bit excessive to me. I’ve searched Richardson and Know Thy Beast without success. Thank you, Nigel

If you have a cast iron sleeve then .005" end float should be fine; alloy or bronze sleeve maybe allow another .005". What do the real engineers out there think? The E95 shim on the inside should be .025", so one extra should give you .008" end float. There should also be .008" backlash against the magneto pinion.
