Alloy welding ?

I got some of these at a bike jumble just incase they came in handy.
Decided to try them out to put three lugs on a Comet gearbox cover to use to disguise my Walkernator.
Had the cover on the flat bit of my vice & was merrily heating it up thinking this will be a neat job, then I noticed I'd got the cover, that had cost me a lot, so hot it was deforming.
Luckily it hadn't gone too far but must have taken me a good couple of hours to get it back to looking ok.
Another one to add to Bodge it & Scarper
Cheers
Dave

Me too Dave, I got some from Netley, After seeing a demo,
Tried to weld ? a bit that I had cut out of my Mag' cowl years ago,
Did one side then turned it over to fill the other side,
Wound up with a load of melted alloy stick on the floor !
You can only do it one side ?, Or you melt what you have just done.
I got fed up with it and the sun was shining, Job for another day, I only like easy quick jobs now.
I think I should have done more with that silly brush, But it drove me mad.
So I Scarpered !!.

Will this alloy soldering work on these crankcases? No they are not mine.

Well I can't tick (Like ), What a mess, I have blown my bikes up a few times, But would not like to do that,
It must have been running NITRO ?.
Or was it another BIG engine ?.
Save the Engine Number :) Simon.

I got the photos from here:

Yes I have recorded the numbers and the state of the engines just in case they happen to reappear on new crankcases.

It reminds me of when my gearbox locked up, After going past a few cars, I was saying to myself,
You got the clutch in quick !, So why is the rear wheel still locked up ??.

That`s a lot of money for just getting the numbers Simon, especially as you`d catch them out.
