At the moment it is possible in the UK that your Vincent could be scrapped either through current criminal law or after an accident when the insurance panjandrum kicks into gear
this petition tries to remedy this loophole
they only need 4000 more to get a response from HMG which at least would bring the problem into the light

I note the normal silence from the VMCC management.

I have plenty of space for asylum seekers of this nature and will work tirelessly to make sure they are properly documented and do not face deportation.

I've checked with my insurance company (RH) and recorded the conversation with their agreement. In the event of an accident where the bike is "uneconomical to repair", I will be paid the "agreed value" in the Schedule and, so long as the bike is over 40 years old (and by definition "historic") the salvage will be turned-over to me to restore should I so wish. The insurers do not contact DVLA to say that the bike has been scrapped - so it still remains on the DVLA system as a valid entity. :)

But on a separate issue, note that if you wheel your bike out of the garage and park it on the drive/lawn/path/garden to work on it or clean it, then go in the house for a cuppa, it is NOT covered for theft. Anywhere else in the world is OK - but not on your property if it's not locked in it's garage. Be aware.

Peter is quite right, a few years ago an acquaintance of mine was cleaning his virtually brand new Volvo Estate car on his driveway, his wife called him in for morning coffee, he left his keys in the ignition, finished his coffee, car gone, no insurance payout, very expensive mistake, one does wonder if he should have been a little more careful, and perhaps a little more economical with the truth.

Dont forget the police can seize your vehicle for just having it parked illegally and a range of other offences
A pensioner had his car scrapped because he had forgotten to renew his licence at 70 (no DVLA reminder) and within the siezure time limit could not retrieve it without a valid licence
They scrapped 22,000 vehicles last year the majority were uninsured I know its a slight chance but worth jogging the minds of those in power especially those environmental activists who want to restrict use or remove all old vehicles
