I had a Hollandia, which was supplied by BMW when the Steib was no longer supplied. It was a copy of the TR500.

I think the problem that you will run into is that there are no Brittish side cars of that period and style available in right hand drive. There might be a few that were made, but there was no serious demand for left hand drive side cars outside of the UK that were not satisfied by the home market of the country itself. Steib supplied both left and right, but you do not want a Steib.

You can keep looking for a British right hand side car and one will pop up eventually, but it would probably have a good price on it due to the rarity. Another alternative is to build one. The frames are quite simple, as seen with the Royal frame above. The bodies are often just aluminum panels with wood frames. The Hollandia suspension is simple rubber bands, but a coil over is easy to find.

Yes sidecars are a DIY build I should mention that if your donor chassis has a mounting for a sidecar wheel axel then you could do what I did make up an axel that duplicates all the dimensions of the Vincent axel north of one of the end nuts but with the shoulders removed then its just a question of making up spacers and using standard shims to attach a Vincent hub/side-car wheel on the standard taper rollers. when I wanted a skinny 17" wheel to be built on the hub I told the builder it was for a Vincent Chopper- he went blue in the face!:p

I would like to see a sales brochure for a Royal 281.
Here is the only picture with Royal sidecar I find so far.
1928 it is dated. Altho this looks pretty cool and swoopy, I would like 1947 era British design , closed.

I found a "Royal 281 " replica side car that looks like it can be enclosed, but this particular Royal I find no history or this year of manufacture.
Anyone familiar with Royal ? This appears to a 1920s style to me .

I want an enclosed, British 1947 era sidecar , right side mount.
I see the Steib and other type sporty side cars bullets, but I need an enclosed with windshield/door style.

The only reference that I have found is the Royal Leicester who produced Sidecars for a short while from 1919. There is also Royal Ruby made by the Ruby Cycle Co from about 1912 to 1922. Of course, it may be none of these and possibly U.S. made.

It could be a Royal. The bottom mountings were very similar to the Steib. I had a Royal many years ago. It looked like a minature Steib S501 but was very light. Too light in my opinion for a Vincent twin although back in the seventies at the TT I saw one attached to a Black Shadow.

Hi Craig, i'm new in here, this is my first post... I have just purchased a '52 comet. I actually own a sidecar, which i'm willing to sell. It's a '59 Watsonian Maxstoke, double seater, closed model. It has been converted from left to right hand side about 25 years ago. Technically it's in quite good nick, the interior is in need of refurb. At the moment, it is attached to a BMW R67/2 (which i'm not willing to sell). The pic was made, when we were on camping holiday with our two kids. As i live in Switzerland it won't be a one day job to get it home... Paul

Wasn't the Blacknell Bullet reversible for mounting either side of bike?
Thought I remembered body/fender/suspension could bolt/unbolt to be mounted either topside or bottom side of frame.
Maybe a memory of wishful thinking..
