Chopper builder and hot rodders are interested in Image rather than practicality or something functional, but there again, when you think about it, where is the practicality of a genuine fully restored Lightning now..............Just something very pretty to look at, but never used in reality. It's all something we created, so it's really the difference between practicality and whether it gets any use I suppose.

I was worried about the kicker being half way on and the aluminum steering head until I saw the front float bowl!

Well we are all different, and we all have different likes and dislikes, that is a good thing I suppose, I personally dislike what has been constructed out of those wonderful components, I just hope he never gets his hands on a Bugatti 35b and turns it into a Hot Rod, but I guess others might like it!

Look at it another way, How much work would it take to make it whatever you want, It must be low mileage !, And if you don't want the big Delorto, Give it to me, It is one of the few Carb's I have not put on my Comet !!. Cheers Bill.

The designer replies.

1. The front carb float level and kickstart crank engagement are known very minor detail corrections. Methinks the stinking rabble doth protest a tad much in their brainless and desperate lurch towards petty stone throwing. Is that all apparent dilletant crybabies can find wrong?

2. Rank prejudice, bald faced jingoism and disgusting phraseology like "abortion" -- from mere armchair bystanders and wannabe's -- of course reflect MUCH more superior and exalted human qualities than those of a lone, ill, and aged visionary who dared to do what had never been done before...NOT.

3. The crude rube who criticizes the CNC-machined high-tensile alloy FT1 head lug - which underwent FEM analysis by a GM structural design engineer - has absolutely no idea what he or she is purporting to talk about. Those who object to the sky pipes similarly betray their abject ignorance about American chopper motorcycle history. The bike is a chopper. Learn to read and comprehend, jackasses.

4. Brand new 1300 cc Vincents are being built by Godet. Ditto for machines built from repop parts by The Spares Co., Vaughan, Prince and others. Ditto for this built-from-parts machine that carries NO Stevenage issued frame or engine serial numbers. Any authenticity objections raised are spurious, ridiculous and completely mooted.

5. In my half century of motorcycling I have found that the generally good-natured community of Vincent motorcycle owners and builders is sadly all too often polluted by a certain unseemly element who are pecunious, pompous, pedantic, narrow-minded, megalomaniac, and/or arrogant. Looks like that regrettable group is certainly festering like malodorous infected boils on this message board.
