I have a kickstart cover G1/1. Unfortunately, the thread for the inspection cap is stripped. I’m hoping to find someone to machine it out and replace with a threaded insert. Does anyone know who could carry out this work? Thanks Paul

if the thread is not completely gone you can try to deepen it with a threadfile.then you can try to widen the inspection cover with a special bolt under a press.regards erik

It is a 20 t.p.i. thread, Whitworth form. If you don't have a thread file, a little careful hand work with the edge of a 1/4 W tap held in the chuck of a hand drill will help clean up the thread.

I am with Vincent, if the thread has stripped the metal is gone, you cannot simply dress it back as if by magic, you will need to get more metal where the thread once was by whatever means
