04b. General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

GDPR and the Vincent H.R.D. Owners Club

It would have been virtually impossible to avoid the abundance of press coverage and wild speculation that has surrounded compliance with the EU's new GDPR, which came into force on 25th May 2018.

Any organisation that handles visitors or customers from inside the EU is required to adhere to the GDPR, which aims to protect the personal data of EU residents, with the threat of penalties for non-compliance.

Thankfully, the extent to which the practices of most legitimate businesses and organisations needed to change had been greatly overstated by a sensationalist media looking for a story.

In actual fact, most of the provisions in the GDPR are already implemented by the Vincent H.R.D. Owners Club and simply require a slight tightening-up of controls and a better communication of the way that personal data is handled and retained by us.
